Brats and Sauerkraut

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 onions sliced
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 1 11 oz can sauerkraut, don't drain
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon celery seed
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 6 bratwursts
  • 4 hamburger buns

Instructions

  1. Saute onions in butter. When the onions are caramelized add garlic, saute for 1 minute. Add undrained sauerkraut, sugar, celery seed and bay leaf. Cover and simmer 1/2 hour.
  2. Add brats and simmer for 45 minutes.
  3. Serve on bun and top with sauerkraut.
